GEEK TALK...I finally bought a netbook.

Her name is Ruby…and she is a audio production monster.

After days of obsessing I think I’m good for now. My Dual Core/Vista laptop is dedicated just for DJing and my older P4/XP laptop’s display went south (crazy lines in the screen). It’s now tethered to a external monitor as my productivity/internet desktop. Man…I’ve really missed having a dedicated laptop for mobile use.  I tend to always have a good creative spurt when I get something new and fun.

Unfortunatly, I missed my chance to hit the beach with the family.

This thing is so freakin’ small !!! It’s about the size of a hardcover book and about 1/3 the size of my other laptops.

You’ll find a lot of folks saying that netbooks are underpowered and only good for web surfing and light computing…BULL CRAP!!! The key to getting the most out of a netbook is to use older software with lower system requirements.  I made a ton of tracks (including one from 2001 that made it on Mia’s new CD) with just a 500mhz Celeron.  Ruby’s 900mhz processor is more than enough for making beats. The 160gb hard drive the perfect size for storing a bunch sample and mp3s, so I’ll be able to also use it as a backup for DJing/live shows.
